Hi all,

I launched a minimal viable product (MVP) website in April to validate a business idea that I’ve been working on since November. It provides a more accurate way for companies and candidates to connect, however this is very different to a job-board or recruitment platform. I will send across the website after reviewing profiles…

It’s a platform model, I’ve experienced solid traction with the MVP. There are currently 12 users on one side of the platform and 130 on the other (this ratio is about right). These users have largely been obtained through direct emails and small advertisements with good conversion rates. Therefore, I’ve validated the value hypothesis in small numbers, however I now want to 5-10x these user numbers and prove the model works at higher volumes and attain some billed revenues before raising seed funds. This capital will be used to build a full-site by utilising all the customer feedback and learning that I’ve collected from the MVP which is invaluable.

The team consists of myself & 1 developer and I’ve just added an advisor/mentor that has an established tech business in a similar sector. This is my first business; however, I’ve worked with various start-ups prior and have a background in finance. I’m very proactive, diligent, analytical and commercially minded. Myers Briggs Test – ESTJ.

I’m looking for a Co-founder to come on board that has a strong background working in the early stages of a tech start-up, ideally within the recruitment space. You should have good customer development, UX, markeing and sales skills and ideally some technical expertise would also be great. Someone with personal connections to hiring managers or HR teams at a range of organisations would also be invaluable for early traction.

I'm primarily looking for someone that has a different way of thinking (introvert would be good) and opposite skillsets that can challenge my assumptions. Although diligence and dedication are the key traits sought after. It would also be great to add diversity to the team. However, key importance is positive ‘lean start-up mentality’ i.e learn, test, iterate, pivot, no challenge cannot be overcome… don't make assumptions.

The time commitment will be c.8-10 hours a week with a meeting to go through progress once a week or every couple. However, time is not really an important metric, it's all about user acquisition. We can talk about equity stake at the seed raise depending on time and capital commitments (if any, not a requirement). I’m looking to decide 100% based on personal fit, so we’ll need to get to know each other well and do substantial due-diligence. However, fundamentally you need to be passionate about the problem I’m trying to solve, have a positive, open-minded attitude and treat the lead start-up as gospel.

I’ll send the MVP website to potential applicants, obtain feedback/interest, then we can meet for a coffee or beer. I’ll be happy to send through confidential information to serious candidates after signing NDAs and non-compete agreements.

I should also mention, I'm currently working on this as a side project alongside a full-time position. Looking for someone in a similar position, but happy to commit a set amount of time per week. I want to conclude the MVP in September/October and if customer traction, engagement and the most important 'revenue' is there, then we can go full-time, raise funds and burn.

Let's speak on the phone first, then meet.

Thanks,

Peter
