Xihelm is developing the first viable automated handwork robot for glasshouse vegetables - revenue opportunity $13.2B replacing seasonal migrant labour like-for-like, firstly the $950M spent picking main tomato varieties - using own AI computer vision platform, initially as lead in a $1.6M consortium. The CEO worked at Google for 5 years and studied at Stanford.

We've got real challenges to solve. Working as part of a team you’ll tackle problems such as power systems, robotic safety systems and locomotion - designing and integrating a mobile base with a robotic arm for picking fruit and vegetables in commercial glasshouses. You will have the opportunity to learn and get involved with all aspects of a robotic system.

As employee #16, this is an exceptional chance to join at the start and help define our culture. So far, we enjoy our team lunches, and the CEO’s lightning trigger finger at Laser Quest.

We’re looking for impressive people. Think you can build a self-driving car in the time most people eat their lunch? Come talk to us.

Rapidly design and assemble electromechanical components (e.g. end-effectors, linear axes and mounting plates) of our robotic harvesting platform
Support the AI and software teams with rapid hardware prototypes (e.g. brackets, mounts and gripper fingers) to quickly evaluate new ideas in field trials
Specify, validate and integrate mechanical and electrical system components (e.g. safety and locomotion systems)
Produce technical reports and documentation

Minimum qualifications
Relevant BSc. degree (mechanical, mechatronics or similar), apprenticeship or undeniably equivalent practical experience

We make use of advanced deep AI Computer Vision, robotics, autonomous vehicles and Machine Learning technologies, so any experience there is a major advantage. Similarly, our work is driven by statistics-based research, so project experience in those areas would help enormously.

Must have
3D CAD experience
Worked with rapid prototyping and 3D printing
Hands on manufacture and assembly skills (hand and power tools)
Integrated electrical components (e.g. sensors, relays or motors) into an electromechanical system
Experience writing technical reports and/or documentation

Should have
Understanding of robotic arms, robotic systems, sensors, electricals and related software development
Experience designing electromechanical systems that comply with EU directives
System test or QA experience

Please note
You’ll need to be willing to work from our funky office in London, UK.

Sorry, no agencies or consultants, thanks - please do not forward resumes or CVs - Xihelm is not responsible for any fees related to unsolicited resumes or CVs.
