Social workers in Wiltshire are supported to oversee the lifecycle of a case. You will work from single assessments under S17 and S47 all the way through to adoption, ensuring families have one social worker to support them throughout their journey and giving practitioners the opportunity to use a vast array of their skills.

The support

Social workers are supported to be ambitious for families through monthly supervision with a dedicated line manager, and the support of the team.

Wiltshire provides a clear support and progression plan for practitioners, including leadership and mentoring programmes for social work staff who would like to progress in their careers. These programmes include a leadership and management programme available for all staff.

Other training includes external provision around lone working for domestic abuse and complex needs, and a subscription service that gives you opportunities to train in: identifying and responding to neglect; special guardianship orders; assessing parental capacity to change emphasis on domestic violence; parental substance misuse and its impact on child welfare and assessing capacity to change.
