Experienced Social Workers – Support and Safeguarding
We are investing to recruit more social workers to ensure practitioners can spend quality time with families.
Our dedicated support and safeguarding service works with vulnerable children across four areas in Wiltshire. Five teams in total work closely with partner agencies to give social workers the opportunity to work and effect meaningful change for families.
Social workers in Wiltshire are supported to oversee the lifecycle of a case. You will work from single assessments under S17 and S47 all the way through to adoption, ensuring families have one social worker to support them throughout their journey and giving practitioners the opportunity to use a vast array of their skills.
Social workers are supported to be ambitious for families through monthly supervision with a dedicated line manager, and the support of the team.
Wiltshire provides a clear support and progression plan for practitioners, including leadership and mentoring programmes for social work staff who would like to progress in their careers. These programmes include a leadership and management programme available for all staff.
Other training includes external provision around lone working for domestic abuse and complex needs, and a subscription service that gives you opportunities to train in: identifying and responding to neglect; special guardianship orders; assessing parental capacity to change emphasis on domestic violence; parental substance misuse and its impact on child welfare and assessing capacity to change.

Successful applicants can choose a preferred working location across Wiltshire’s teams. Offices are in Chippenham, Trowbridge, Salisbury and Amesbury/Devizes.

The 10% market supplement for social workers who choose to work in this team recognises the importance of filling these roles. The payments are subject to review on an annual basis.
