One of Nonstop's clients in the NorthEast of England are looking for a locum Social Worker to join their growing Child Protection team.

Your Role:

This is a locum opportunity, paid on a generous rate, for a Social Worker who is looking to contribute to a dynamic and established team. The local authority have an established core of social workers and managers, so you'll be able to slot into the team easily and focus on your case loads.

There also may be opportunities to work from home or to work a condensed week, accommodating for flexibility in hours.

Case load:

The authority has an established senior management and a core of permanent social workers. They have funding to help expand their team, to help bring the case load down below the national average. With their high influx in intake of social workers, you'll be able to focus on your own cases and do best by the children and their families.


There is flexibility to discuss condensed working weeks and home working. This will allow you to fit this position around your personal life.

There's opportunities to move around within the Authority and broaden your horizons. So if you are looking to broaden your experience or try out new areas within children service but don't have any prior experience, then our client can offer you the chance to do so.

With the case loads reducing, this is also an opportunity to really be able to focus on the cases that you do have and gain a better work life balance.

For experienced individuals there's also potential to be paid on the senior practitioner rate.

Key tasks:

  • Attending Court
  • Working with Public Law Outline (PLO)
  • Single Assessments
  • Child Protection conferences
  • Section 47 Investigations
  • Child Protection meetings
  • Case conferences


  • Qualified Social Worker with relevant Degree
  • Post qualification in the UK experience
  • HCPC registration
