Administrator / Support Worker or Care Support Worker

Position: Care Support Worker
Location: Christie Hospital, Manchester, Lancashire (Commutable from Rochdale, Bolton, Stockport, Warrington and surrounding areas)

Hours: 22 hours per week
Salary: £12,542.51 per annum pro rata, (FTE £19,954)

About the role:

This is an exciting opportunity to join our established Social Care Team providing services and support to children, teenagers and young adults with cancer. Our team includes Paediatric Social Workers, Social Workers for Young People and a Development Worker for volunteers. Administrative support is provided by a part-time Team Administrator.

You will be expected to maintain a high standard of administration, but also to help Social Workers to provide day to day support for service users and to plan and organise events and activities. You will have some contact with children, young people and families, completing registrations and grant applications, providing information and assistance with accessing appropriate services. You will help us to maintain our CARE database and contribute to collecting and presenting data for reports and evaluations.

About you:

We are looking for an experienced person who has the confidence to meet with children and families when they may be experiencing great distress, but who is also highly organised and efficient. You will need to have a good standard of literacy and numeracy, have experience of an administrative role and experience of working with children and families.

It is desirable that you have some experience of working in a similar setting and that you have an understanding of the impact of cancer or serious illness.

All applicants should have excellent interpersonal skills.
