The School and Service are situated in Tower Hamlets and is a centre of excellence for vision impairment in the East London. The school is a day maintained special school and service for pupils with vision impairment and additional or complex needs. The school also offers a small number of places for pupils with communication difficulties, including autism, who are not vision impaired. The school has places for 100 pupils. All students have a Statement of Special Educational Needs or are admitted on an assessment basis.
The Teacher of visually impaired role:
The school in Tower Hamlets is looking to appoint an experienced and SEND teacher of Visually Impaired knowledge and to start As soon as Possible! The ideal candidate will be an experienced special needs teacher who has worked with SEN Pupils. The school will be aged from 7-16. Ideally you will have worked across the primary/secondary the ideal candidate will have experience in phase planning and preparing within an SEN curriculum and understand how important it is to tailor education to specific needs. Having experience working with Braille and Visual impairment We undertake safeguarding checks on all our workers in accordance with the DfE statutory guidance Keeping Children Safe in Education'. As part of these checks, we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in schools.
