Our vision is of a world where no one is blind from avoidable causes and where visually impaired people participate equally in society. Each year, we improve the lives of millions of people in the poorest parts of the world. Sightsavers offers a great place to work within easy reach of London and Brighton.

Sightsavers is looking for a Legacy Administration Assistant to join its Legacies Administration Team and assist in the administration of legacy income of approximately £10m per year. Reporting to the Legacy Administration Manager, this role is responsible for providing a wide range of administrative support functions to the other team members.

This role would be an ideal role for an individual with an interest in and motivation to learn charity law and to study charity legacy administration in order to become a member of the Institute of Legacy Management and to complete the Certificate in Charity Legislation (ILM) qualification.

We are interested in receiving applications from a variety of backgrounds, perhaps you already have charity legacy administration experience or the ILM qualification, have studied law or been involved in a specialist probate team based within a financial institution or service provider.  We are also keen to hear from applicants with strong administration, communication and database skills. You will need to be detail-orientated and an effective time manager, able to prioritise your workload and critical day to day responsibilities which will include managing your own caseload of pecuniary legacies. The role will involve liaison with a variety of external stakeholders ranging from professional executors and other charities to recently bereaved family members so you will need to be able to adapt your communication style to suit the varying audiences.

You will have:

Significant experience of working in an administrative environment which demands accuracy and attention to detail
The ability to communicate clearly, effectively and also sympathetically
The ability to manage your own workload and prioritise multiple tasks within tight deadlines
A basic knowledge of the law and legal concepts

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a friendly, highly motivated team where the work is varied and makes a huge difference to the Sightsavers ongoing mission.
