An exciting opportunity has arisen at the Bucks College Group for a VH Lecturer to teach on an HNC programme run in conjunction with Creative Media Skills set at Pinewood Studios. The position would suit either an experienced teacher in this field, or a new person wanting to make the transition to education from industry that has a good knowledge of the art department, and associated skills in the film industry. This role would lead a group of talented individuals to gain an HNC whilst becoming set ready at Pinewood.

Closing date 11th November 2018 with an interview date of Friday 16th November.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • Teaching
  • Gain a full understanding of teaching role and the wider professional roles and responsibilities as specified in Bucks College Group’s Professional Standards booklet. Take accountability and ownership for own role.
  • Plan and deliver high quality teaching in the subject areas required, using up to date vocational knowledge and expertise to ensure the curriculum delivered develops students’ employability, life and learning skills.
  • Plan and deliver high quality teaching with due recognition of the relevant syllabus and course specifications, given the resources available and within the agreed and approved timetable. Teach up to required levels on identified courses.
  • Plan and deliver highly effective learning programmes for diverse groups or individuals in a safe and inclusive environment, whilst also ensuring students are stretched and challenged to reach their full potential.
  • Value and promote social and cultural diversity, equality of opportunity and inclusion and be a positive role model for others.
  • Satisfy the administrative requirements of the College and examining/validating bodies; including internal verification requirements.
  • Apply appropriate and fair methods of assessment to students to support progression and achievement.
  • Promptly provide high quality feedback to students. Ensuring that all marking, assessments and moderation that has been completed in a timely manner is recorded and tracked appropriately.
  • Build positive and collaborative relationships with colleagues and students. Liaise with other staff as appropriate to ensure that work is fully and effectively covered.
  • Direct Learning Support Assistant or technician in the teaching situation as required and where appropriate.
  • Regularly reflect upon own practice and the impact this has on students’ learning; adopting creative and innovative approaches to teaching that support access to learning for all.
  • Use reflection, and feedback from others, to regularly take part in continuous professional development which develops own skills and knowledge of pedagogy and subject specialism.
  • Apply theoretical understanding of effective practice in teaching, learning and assessment drawing on research and other evidence.
  • Evaluate and challenge own practice, values and beliefs to meet the diverse needs of students.
