Support Worker 

Hft is a national charity that's been supporting people with learning disabilities since 1962. We put the people we support at the centre of everything we do and use our experience to work in partnership with them to provide personalised services to more than 2,500 people. 

Hft Bedfordshire is recruiting for Support Workers for their Transition Service based in Biggleswade. 
This service focuses on supporting young adults with learning disabilities between the ages of 16-25 looking to move from their parental home into Supported Living. 

Position: Support Worker - Transition Service 
Location: Biggleswade, Bedfordshire 
Hours: Full and Part-time available 
Hourly rate: Up to £8.12 (dependent on probation & qualification)

About our Transition Service: 

Support Workers at the Transition Service ensure that the people we support gain the skills and knowledge to live as independently as possible and support them throughout this transition. 

As we often take the people we support out by car, a full, current UK/EU driving licence is required for this role. 

About the role: 

As a Support Worker at Hft you’ll be supporting adults with learning disabilities to live the best life possible. In these roles, everything you do will enable people to have choices about their own lives, creating flexible services that meet people’s needs and always looking for the best way of doing things. 

There’s no such thing as a “typical day” for one of our Support Workers. You never know what you might end up doing. Within this service you could be supporting someone to the local shops, supporting with meals, attending medical appointments, supporting to school/college and supporting with activities in the local area. You will also encourage and promote independence and support with life skills such as cooking, cleaning and banking. 

You will need to be able to work shifts, including weekends, some nights and Bank Holidays. Shifts are on a 7.5 hour basis and start between 7am up until 10pm. 

About you: 

You don’t need experience of support work or any special qualifications for this job - you’ll get plenty of training along the way. What matters most is your positive attitude to life and your desire to support people to live their life with as much independence, choice, dignity and control as possible.
