Software Engineering is a critical strategic capability for the UKHO to build and develop.  Agile is in our DNA, we need to build and embed both capability and capacity across the organisation.

About the role

We need our SAP ABAP Developer to help deliver upon our objectives by designing, developing, troubleshooting and supporting the software code. We will require configuration across all modules within the SAP environment.

As an SAP ABAP Developer you will work closely with the internal SAP Support Team roles, specifically the functional application consultant and functional application analyst roles, to enable the implementation and maintenance of new and existing SAP functionality.

Naturally you will closely with external SAP partners, including Spinnaker Support and Edenhouse Solutions, ensuring that changes delivered by third party suppliers are of an appropriate level of quality and performance and deliver the required business functionality.  As a thought leader on SAP you will drive improvements and enhancements to fully exploit the business systems.

You will be expected to design, develop and deliver business critical programmes, project activities and business change requests and provide support for the UKHO SAP system, resolving system issues.

About you

› You have significant ABAP development experience including working extensively on bespoke programmes and transactions, interfaces, SAPScripts and general and interactive reporting and will have worked with a variety of SAP environments 4.6, 4.7, ECC6

› Credible knowledge and experience of ABAP development with SD, MM, FI, WM, CO or PP modules

› Demonstrable experience working with business roles to develop requirements which can then be turned into workable solutions

› To be able to think creatively, particularly in terms of exploring unconventional or original recommendations for improved solutions

› Produce formal requirements and specification documents›

› Produce and utilise test plans and test scripts/specifications

› Knowledge and experience of ABAP development with SD, MM, FI, WM, CO or PP modules

› Work alongside Application Consultants to convert functional requirements into technical specifications

Ideally you will also have :

› Experience or previous involvement in an SAP upgrade (preferably to 4.7 or later)

› 3 years IT business analysis experience

› Development of test scripts using Automated Test Tools

› Experience of data transferring tools
