Pearson have exciting opportunities for Construction teachers to become External Verifiers (also known in Pearson as a Standards Verifier) for our BTEC RQF Construction qualification.

We currently have a number of opportunities for teachers across the UK who are currently teaching or recently retired.

The Standards Verifier role is an excellent opportunity to earn some extra money in a part-time role, alongside any full-time commitments you may have, whilst also developing your career in education.

A BTEC Standards Verifier will undertake sampling of assessment and internal verification decisions for units from a range of programmes within a Principal Subject Area (PSA) in order to confirm that national standards have been achieved and upheld across centres.

To be eligible to apply you need to have experience of delivering vocational qualifications (Eg, BTEC QCF, BTEC NQF/ next generation, Higher Nationals, NVQ, Work Based Learning etc).

You will need to have completed a minimum of one academic year’s full time teaching experience in the last 8 years. This must be in the relevant subject and qualification you have applied for, in this case Vocational Qualifications related to Construction or Building subjects.

Sampling will need to be completed before June ‘18. Before you begin any sampling however you will receive an induction training session and then sector specific standardisation to ensure that you are competent and comfortable in marking to the standards we set. You will be paid for attending the sector specific training as well as having your travel and accommodation expenses, where necessary, covered.

Experience/qualifications needed

  • Experience of delivering Vocational qualifications (Eg, BTEC QCF, BTEC NQF/next generation, Higher Nationals, Work Based Learning etc).
  • A commitment to quality assurance.
  • Good working knowledge of the specifications for the subject area you will specialise in.
