Role and Responsibilities

As Lead UI & UX Designer your role will be to define and manage the visual identity of nkoda. We are entering an exciting phase of redevelopment, making bold changes to the App’s UI and UX. We therefore need a dynamic, risk-taking and fast-working designer to lead that shift.

In practice this will involve:
-Establishing a clear, consistent and unique visual identity for nkoda.
-Designing and creating assets for the development team to be used across all platforms - iOS, Android, Mac and Windows.
-Gathering and evaluating user requirements in coordination with the product and engineering team.
-Illustrating and wireframing designs and solutions in an collaborative manner.
-Creating assets and marketing materials for some of the world’s leading musicians in relation to nkoda’s special artist projects.
-Managing nkoda’s junior graphic designers, providing guidance and adding clarity to their work.
-Designing assets to be displayed across all digital acquisition channels e.g. Facebook and Instagram advertising as well as paid search and media coverage.
-Creating and revising information architecture documents and diagrams including but not limited to: content diagrams, content maps, wireframing and static prototypes.


Skills and Experience

Required:
-5 years’ experience actively carrying out and managing design projects.
-Exceptionally able with key design tools - Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign etc...
-Experience developing for mobile centric platforms, particularly working with mobile ‘usability issues’.
-Experience harmonising a visual brand identity from scratch.
-A passion for excellent user-centric design and a keen appreciation of aesthetics.

Bonus:
-Experience working with utility-based software services.
-Musical background or passion.
-Desktop application design experience.
-Experience designing for subscription-based services.

Key 3 to 6 month milestones
-Harmonise nkoda’s visual identity into a clear, usable set of principles, assets and actions.
-Design and implement key changes to the mobile application.
-Create, and manage the creation of, high quality assets to be used across different acquisition channels.
-Develop the skills and competences of the junior design team, improving their productivity and the quality of their output.
