Senior IT Technician
Starting salary £25716 rising to £28899 with experience.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Senior IT Technician to join a small team providing essential, high-level IT services, technical support and advice in a networked domain infrastructure. The role holder will be responsible for maintaining the comprehensive desktop IT infrastructure at the college in order to meet the needs of all staff and students. The primary function of the role will be to provide 2nd and 3rd line technical support to the IT desktop and helpdesk support team. The role holder will be expected to work on their own initiative with the ability to efficiently manage the priorities and workload of themselves and the desktop/helpdesk team. They will be required to establish and maintain good relationships with all IT users, seeking to fully understand their needs and providing solutions and documentation as required. The post plays a crucial role in providing desktop project management e.g. rollouts, enrolment etc. and resolving desktop issues and advising the desktop/helpdesk technicians and IT user population on routine technical IT and information security issues, ensuring the college policies and procedures with respect to hardware, software and security are adhered to. The successful candidate will have comprehensive and up-to-date experience, knowledge and technical competence across a wide range of IT areas including customer support, hardware, technical documentation, edge networking and installation of new IT equipment as required. They will be a well-organised, pro-active individual who will work well as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a necessity, plus a keen attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines. The candidate will also need to be able to learn new applications quickly and easily.
