Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake reserve reviews, assist in monitoring and forecasting the company’s results, across a variety of lines of business
  • Support the Solvency II reporting process, including Pillar III reporting and Standard Formula capital calculations
  • Where required assist in detailed capital parameterisation and validation work
  • Strong communication and persuasion skills required, interaction with various internal and external stakeholders, including Capital Modelling, Finance, Claims, Underwriting, SAO provider and Auditors
  • Proactively take on and manage own projects independently, and delivery within required timeframes

Reserving:

  • Undertake the quarterly reserving process, typically for one of the firm’s entities across multiple lines of business. Encompassing data analysis, ultimate loss ratio selections, documentation and Solvency II Technical provision calculations
  • For one of the firm’s Divisions responsibility for the production and reporting of the held and best estimate reserving and resulting P&L impacts, encompassing multiple lines of business
  • Assist with enhancing the reserving process within the company’s on an ongoing basis, with particular focus on alignment with the company’s organic growth
  • Develop capability for regular performance reporting to ensure key trends and deviations from plan can be identified and communicated efficiently
  • Contribute to wider Solvency II reporting processes e.g. analysis of change

Management Information:

  • Work with the Finance and Actuarial teams on the development and delivery of management information for senior management
  • Provide information on forecasting and budgeting to senior management to assist in strategic planning and monitoring for the company

Capital:

  • Contribute to Solvency II Standard Formula calculations
  • Contribute as required to the Internal Model parameterization process
  • Contribute as required to sensitivity testing and other validation work as required for the Validation Report

Regulatory and Compliance:

  • Report any suspicion of financial crime to the Money Laundering Reporting Officer immediately
  • Operate within the Company’s standards for Treating Customers Fairly
  • Manage any potential conflicts of interest to avoid disrepute to the company’s integrity
  • Advise Compliance of any complaints immediately

Performance Measures:

  • Delivery of the quarterly reserving process against the deadlines set
  • Delivery of Solvency II deadlines to Lloyd’s and the FCA/PRA
  • Delivery of Reserving / SCR submissions
  • Accuracy of data – Reserving, Management Information, SCR
  • Produce quarterly reporting and effective management information to the Board
  • Feedback from internal and external stakeholders on service delivery and knowledge of their specific business needs
  • Commitment to furthering technical knowledge and understanding
  • Follow HR processes, including completing timely and effective Compass records

Qualifications/ Experience:

  • Reserving principles
  • Solvency II and Capital Adequacy principles
  • Reinsurance practices
  • Lloyd’s, London Market and Insurance Company processing arrangements for premiums and claims
  • Lloyd’s Franchise Board standards
  • FCA/PRA regulatory framework
