Project Coordinator (Active Communities)

Position: Active Communities Coordinator 
Location: Milton Park, Oxfordshire 
Job type: Part Time, 3 year Fixed Term Contract 
Hours: 21 hours per week 
Salary: £12,006 pro rata for part time / £21,154 per annum Grade 3 (FTE salary)

About the role: 

The Active Communities Coordinator will develop and support our existing programmes of activity, working with a variety of target groups including older people, women and those suffering with mental health issues; encouraging active lifestyles and combating social isolation and loneliness. 

This post will work collaboratively with community groups, individuals, statutory and voluntary partners to improve access to, and participation in, health and well-being activities and opportunities. The post holder will be required to work on their own initiative to develop, implement and evaluate interventions to help our residents and staff adopt active lifestyles and reduce inactivity and health inequalities. 

About you: 

- Minimum 5 GCSEs grades A-C, including English and Maths 
- Level 2 sports coaching qualification 
- Full driving licence with access to a car for work purposes 
- Ability to work outside of normal office hours for project delivery 
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to present information to a range of audiences in both written and verbal formats 
- Experience of delivering community-based activities to targeted groups, including older people 
- Understanding the barriers that prevent inactive people, particularly in rural areas, from participating in sports and physical activities 
- Knowledge of national and local sporting structures and initiative 
- Experience of social media and web-based technology as well as an ability to use IT packages including e-mail, diary management, word processing, spread-sheets and internet 
- Ability to produce accurate reports and maintain accurate records 
- Relevant experience of delivering training to coaches, tutors and volunteers 
- Experience of partnership working and specifically of developing and delivering multi-agency partnership initiative 

If you have the following experience or qualifications – it’s a bonus: 

- Experience of working with underrepresented groups 
- Understanding of behaviour change theory and the ability to apply it in real situations 
- Experience of presenting reports in various forums 
- Mental health or dementia awareness training
