Alexander Daniels is woring with a large business located close to Leeds City Centre who are hiring an experienced Finance Assistant - someone with passion, who is looking for a challenging role and can deliver outstanding results. This is an opportunity to join a fast growing utilities business, therefore there is a genuine opportunity for the right candidate to progress their finance career.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, the role is to assist in all financial operations within the organisation and ideas and suggestions for improving processes and procedures will be actively encouraged.

  • The candidate will initially be required to focus the majority of their resource on tidying supplier ledgers, Liaising with suppliers to request statements of account to correctly allocate payments and to request and process missing invoices. The complexity of the process would be suited towards a candidate who has the ability to disseminate large volumes of data and process/analyse in an efficient manner
  • Bank reconciliations, assisting in the preparation of weekly payment files to suppliers
  • Maintenance of sales and purchase ledger and dealing with supplier queries and will evolve to include assisting in the preparation of management accounts

  • VAT returns and cash flow modelling

Essential Skills and Attributes

  • Minimum of 1-2 years' experience in a finance based role
  • Experienced with Sage 50 or equivalent accounting software
  • Ability to handle large volumes of complex data
  • Technologically adept
  • Highly numerate and a logical thinker
  • Highly PC literate
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Intermediate level of skill with Microsoft Excel (e.g. comfortable in writing basic Excel formulas);
  • Excellent and professional telephone manner
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail to a very high standard
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain financial information to those with a nonfinancial background
  • Persuasive and not afraid to challenge as and when necessary
  • Highly motivated, with a willingness to learn
  • Studying towards a recognised accounting qualification (desirable)
