English Teacher in Portsmouth Area
Teaching Personnel are working with several SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) Schools in the Portsmouth area that are currently looking for English Teachers to start in January. The schools have pupils ranging from 7 - 16 years old with varied needs of the following:
- Anxiety difficulties
- Behavioural difficulties
The schools we work with use a differentiated curriculum to help support the students through their specific needs, that have taken them out of mainstream schooling. Majority of our schools are rated good - excellent with OFSTED and have exceptional facilities. The schools encourage a very close pupil and teacher relationships, to help aide pupils through their education more efficiently whilst also encouraging morale and social support.
Hours: 8:30 - 15:30, Monday - Friday. Full time starting from January 7th.
The salary will vary between £500 - £600 per week depending on the successful candidates experience.
MUST have Qualified Teacher status.
Ideal candidates may need to be able to drive but it isn't essential, as we will likely have a school local to you.
Ideal applicants should have previous experience working with complex behaviour or challenging needs professionally. Without professional experience any personal experience with the following could help the candidate succeed in this role:
- Youth/Community work experience
- Care worker
- Sports coaching
- Youth offending services
- Challenging behaviour within family
Applicants will be working in a small class size with support workers on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis with pupils, providing both pastoral and educational support.
Additional qualifications which may be useful include: Team Teach or PECS. Teaching Personnel do offer many development courses through our CPD Academy; such as Autism Awareness, Safeguarding and Team Teach to help support any successful candidates within this environment.
