Our client has now become a critical part of the infrastructure that underpins business searches on the internet.
The group supplies information under license to credit reference agencies, mapping companies and every major search engine. It also operates a B2B marketing division and a Brand Leader .
In an increasingly digital world the secret to the success has been rigorous commitment to the checking and rechecking of data, which involves 10,000 validation phone calls every day to UK businesses.
Over the years they have created a unique database which maps almost the entire universe of UK businesses. The advent of mobile technology and explosion of 'near me’ searches have seen the need for pin point accurate geo-location data increase exponentially - the world has come a long way from business directories and they are providing the data to fuel that change.
Our client deals with a whole range of clients with commercial information solutions for sales & marketing.
They help businesses in B2B identify what their customers tend to look like and where they can find more prospects which look the same - although there are some complex processes, the aim is very simple.
We are currently looking for a Business Development Manager to join my clients sales team to focus on B2B sales & marketing & database solutions.
This is a great opportunity for the right individual to develop their career and to enjoy very high earnings (yes, they have plenty of 50% tax payers on their books). Our client is a meritocracy where successful salespeople are paid extremely well, but must be prepared to start from the cold call.
If you are hoping for a cosy job looking after some established clients, or following up in-bound leads, then we thank you for your interest in this role, but we need not take it further.
This opportunity is for the long term - you will build up your own client base, supported fully by our client, and you will manage those clients for the duration - you may build your own portfolio. BUT, without the cold start, there are no clients!

If they have a need, and you get in front of them, success is within easy reach.
We can’t stress enough - it is simply about the cold call and securing that first appointment.
Successful candidates should be able to demonstrate the following competencies:
Sales & Negotiation • Has a proven sales track record ideally in the B2B Marketing industry • Can shape and create customer needs • Measure and communicate progress against targets by accurately and timely reporting/forecasting Relationship Building and Communication • Understands Customer Structures: Utilises senior members of both internal and external customers to further the relationship and strategy • Understanding Customer Buying Criteria: Works across all areas of their customer accounts, using understanding of the implications of personal wins against operational requirements • Understands how to gather customer needs and to help the customer UNDERSTAND the benefits .
