CONSULTANT IN GENERAL ADULT PSYCHIATRY – 2 POSTS

These Consultant posts are based in West Fife and provide a comprehensive General Adult Psychiatry Service within one of the two community mental health teams on the Queen Margaret Hospital site alongside an additional consultant psychiatrist, a specialty grade doctor and other members of the multidisciplinary team.

The service provides inpatient and community input to a designated sector with inpatient beds on Ward 2, Queen Margaret Hospital. In Fife there is a consultant body of approximately 30 consultants meeting regularly at the Division of Psychiatry, with Specialists in Old Age Psychiatry, Forensic Psychiatry, Learning Disabilities, CAMHS, Substance misuse and Eating Disorders. On call commitment for out of hours is shared between all Consultants.

You will be supported by Junior Medical Staff from the South East Scotland rotational training scheme or General Practitioner Specialist Training Scheme and will be expected to take an active part in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. All Junior Medical Staff Posts in Fife are fully accredited by the colleges. Consultants are encouraged to take part in service developments.

You should be a fully registered Medical Practitioner and must process MRCPsych or equivalent qualification and the appropriate CCST (or be eligible for such inclusion within 6 months of the interview date).
