A Business Analyst opportunity is available working for a leading global insurance company based in their London city office

To engage with the business and help initiate ideas, new ways of working and fresh ways of thinking through obstacles with a focus on improving the flow of information around the business. Role is responsible for applications and services supported and managed by the UK Branch, and does not extend to services delivered by Head Office & Group.

The role reports to the Chief Information Officer and is primarily responsible for the development and maintenance of a reporting database, and associated data feeds and related reporting systems that support a growing appetite for data insight throughout the business.
Other areas of work to include working with the business to identify opportunities for improvement of processes and automation on our underwriting systems, Business process and IT systems.
The role is suitable for an individual with strong technical and analytical skills, capable of coordinating multiple small projects at once, engaging with the business to identify business problems and translating these problems into deliverable project proposals.

Key qualities and skills
Curious mind-set to learn about the business with an appetite for making processes better, whether that be quicker, clearer, simpler or more robust
Experience working with business stakeholders to elicit and document business requirements
An understanding of data warehousing, data modelling, and ability to write DAX and SQL queries

Strong communication skills and the ability to present complicated ideas clearly and concisely
Ability to work efficiently under pressure, both on your own and as a part of the team, delivering accurate results to realistic deadlines
A demonstrated logical, numerical and structured approach to problem solving, with a 'can-do' attitude
Ability to work within, and improve proper design and testing practices whilst remaining flexible enough to deliver the required result
To undertake any other tasks as requested by the Chief Information Officer

Specific Job Related Skills & Competencies:
Project management experience, and ability to run small projects effectively
Sound understanding of insurance concepts and terminology
An excellent understanding of the insurance business & systems
Strong technical knowledge in regard to Microsoft Office products
Experience with data visualisation tools including Business Objects, Reporting Services and PowerBI
Systems development experience for Business Intelligence (such as PHP, T-SQL, DAX,, R)
Data management and governance, including data quality
