• Passionate about helping others and an interest in healthcare and anatomy • Committed to following our values - our customers are at the heart of everything we do - every one of us makes a difference - together we make things better • Commitment to working a minimum of 12 hours every week across Friday-Sunday - further hours are available on evenings and weekends • Strong communication skills with an empathetic manner. • Proven customer service experience, ideally within a call centre or reception setting. • Can commit to either our full time or part time training course (as described below)

Full training is provided and paid to you: our upcoming courses are on a full time (lasting 4 weeks, Monday to Friday, 9.00am – 5.00pm), or part time basis (lasting 5 weeks, Saturdays and Sundays 9.00am – 5.00pm and Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 6.00pm – 9.30pm). We are recruiting for caring and passionate individuals to join our team as Call Handlers in our busy 111 call centre in Stoke Gifford. This would be working part time (minimum of 12 hours) with a commitment to working at least one day of the weekend, every weekend. We also have additional shifts available and can offer up to 30 hours per week, as well as overtime. Please note that our opening hours are 7:00am - Midnight. As a 111 Call Handler, you will be answering inbound calls from members of the public in need of medical advice. Using both the NHS Pathways script software as well as your own persuasive skills, you will gain information from the caller to assess their situation and guide them to the most appropriate service for them. The patient may need to be given general advice, speak with a Clinical Advisor or be booked into an appointment with an available out-of-hours service. However, while we are a non-urgent service, some calls can be emotional, distressing or life-threatening, and there will be times when 999 services (such as an ambulance) may need to be despatched. This is a demanding but highly rewarding role, and we are looking for candidates who can not only empathise, but can also stay calm under pressure and help those in their time of need. You will follow the NHS Pathways license requirements and comply with all policies and regulations relating to clinical governance and patient confidentiality. Pay Rates During training; £8.55 per hour Day rate: £9.51 per hour (for hours worked between 07:00-23:00) We also offer an increased rate of £12.00 per hour for any actual hours worked during our busiest periods (Fridays 18:00-23:00, Saturdays 07:00-23:00 and Sundays 07:00-23:00). For terms and conditions, please contact our recruitment team. Please note that the pay increases to the day/night rate following full completion of the training (approximately 12 weeks).
