Abbey View, nestled in the beautiful north Dorset town of Sherborne on the Somerset borders, is a 51-bedded nursing home. The home offers beautiful yet comfortable accommodation for our residents, enabling them to feel welcome, relaxed and right at home. We provide our residents with a friendly, professional nursing and care service with the additional benefits of first-class catering and hospitality and an exciting activities calendar, all year round.

We are recruiting for an exceptional Home Manager to join us.

As the Home Manager, you will lead the team to deliver a high quality of service and care to our residents, so that each person can enjoy a dignified and fulfilling life. Working closely with your Clinical Lead and wider teams, you will ensure that the services offered at Abbey View consistently meet our own high standards and the exacting requirements of the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and other external regulators.

What’s involved

The Home Manager’s role is complex as you will create and lead a vision for the home whilst managing the day to day responsibilities of the post. This requires the post-holder to have both a holistic view of the home, with sound commercial awareness, plus excellent attention to detail to the home’s daily operation, including the provision of consistent high-quality care services and staffing needs.

You will demonstrate a financial aptitude and a flair for marketing the home, enhancing your circle of community contacts.

A genuine concern in our residents’ needs and their wellbeing, including the interests of their families, is paramount and you will co-ordinate meetings, surveys and feedback sessions to ensure the staff team meets those needs. To build on the qualities and competence of the staff team, the successful candidate will be experienced in HR matters including performance management and recruitment.

Importantly, the Home Manager must be able to hit the ground running, building strong relationships with staff, residents, their families and community contacts from the outset.

Ideal candidate

Essential to the role is proven experience in elderly care as a Registered Care Home Manager in medium to large nursing homes, with a positive track record of performance with CQC, evidencing ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ ratings in current/previous roles.

A nursing qualification and current registration with the NMC is preferred but not essential as you will be supported by a Clinical Lead.
