Social care is a challenging and rewarding career.
Our care staff work with some of Edinburgh’s older and more vulnerable citizens, people from different backgrounds and of all abilities. You will help people to live full and valued lives, promoting and encouraging independence where possible and providing social opportunities. You will also help with personal care such as bathing and dressing, provision of meals and administration of medication.
We can offer you an opportunity for a career working with people, training and development and a nationally recognised qualification. Good rates of pay, excellent holidays, a generous pension scheme and a range of staff benefits are all part of the package.
Additional working time payments will apply, depending on the exact shift patterns worked. For a full-time post working various day shifts (across seven days) additional payments of around £2,500 a year would apply.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by the City of Edinburgh Council.
Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range. For roles in grade 5 or above, annual increments in our contribution zones are dependent on achieving agreed performance goals.
