Southend offer a stable work forces with a long serving, well established senior management team who are always approachable.

The Southend Borough is condensed so there is limited travelling for work purposes which gives employees more time to complete assignment workloads. Southend Caseloads are diverse in make-up offering lots of opportunities to learn new skills and work with new cases.
We are not a sleepy seaside town. Southend have recently invested in new Social Care technology transferring to Liquid Logic and offering all employees Mobile Phones and Laptops.

Provide an efficient and cost effective service to children, young people, their families and fostering families ensuring that the needs of children and their parents and carers are professionally assessed.
Investigate, evaluate and analyse information on cases, demonstrating clarity of assessment, reliability of information, evidence in conclusions and realistic action plans.
Develop practice which takes a holistic view of the individual, locating them in their immediate and extended social circles and having full regard to their overall development needs.
Ensure that all casework and foster care services comply with statutory requirements, regulation and the Council’s policies and procedures.
Ensure that investigations, enquiries and assessments are completed to high professional standards.
Use ICT as required to maintain adequate case recording as directed in the service procedures.
Ensure that all case management complies with statutory requirements and the Council’s policies and procedures.

Liaise with and work in partnership with other agencies and organisations, to support care plans and the work of foster carers
Undertake the recruitment, assessment, training and development of foster carers, enabling the service to meet the diverse needs of children in Southend Borough Council
Participate in an effective referral and allocation system, ensuring that relevant documentation is available and current for children looked after by foster carers.
Attend panels, conferences, reviews and court as required for each case presenting the Council plans and opinions with professionalism and integrity.
Prepare and submit written reports as and when required.
Identify service enhancements and support the culture of continuous improvement.
Recommend expenditure within strict criteria and policy.
Represent the team, group or department on working parties and at other meetings as required.
Ensure the Team Manager is kept fully appraised of problems arising from workload and seek advice as and when necessary.
Provide statistics relating to own workload as and when required

To work for Southend On Sea you must ;
Be HCPC Registered
Have a Degree in Social Work or equivelant
Have a Driving Licence and a Vehicle

To be considered for this role you must have the follwoing knowledge:
Knowledge of child protection
Knowledge of issues affecting children looked after
Knowledge of methods of social work intervention
Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations
Knowledge & understanding of the Framework for the assessment of children in need and their families
Experience of multi-disciplinary working
Experience of working with foster carers
Ability to provide support and guidance to carers
