Senior Support Worker
We are Consensus, an innovative award-winning independent provider of support services for people with learning disabilities and additional health and social care needs.
We believe everybody can achieve their aspirations and do amazing things. Our role is to provide person-centered support – support that starts each person we support on the road to greater independence, empowering them to reach their full potential.
Our Service is a Supported Living home for up to 9 individuals with complex needs, learning disabilities and physical disabilities. The individuals will be supported to live independently, with a Person Centred Plan that identifies their own likes and dislikes which enables the support team to provide support tailored to the individuals needs and wishes alongside working towards their identified goals in life they wish to achieve.
The Senior Support Worker role
As a Senior Support Worker, you’ll work with the individuals to support them with their daily living skills, get involved in their community, support with their own personal care, manage their diet, medication and maybe go on holiday. Liaising closely with their friends and family, as well as your team, you’ll make sure they are safe, happy, healthy and full of plans for the future.
Because you will be supporting with a range of complex needs, you will have an opportunity to expand your experience, practice and knowledge base. We will offer an opportunity for personal development and you will genuinely make a difference to people’s lives. So if you are seeking a role which makes use of your leadership skills and is interesting, then this could be the service for you.
Working to a person-centered model that puts the people we support at the heart of all you do, you’ll develop support plans collaboratively, setting goals for the future and working towards our individuals having increased independence. Working closely with your Service Manager and Support Workers to evaluate risks, review progress and drive our innovative services forward, you’ll be a vital member of the team.
The skills you’ll need
To join us, you will need to have experience of working with individuals who have learning disabilities, have the skills to lead, the right values and ideally have your NVQ level 3. You will need to be flexible, patient, caring, confident, organised, responsible, good with people and eager to learn and develop.
A team player, you can follow guidelines and policies easily, and will have good written skills, as you will need to contribute to ensure that the necessary paperwork is completed properly and support plans followed. You are passionate, enthusiastic, motivated and professional and have the confidence and skills to lead effectively. Above all, you’ll be committed to providing person-centered care that gives real equality of opportunity to all those you’re working for.
