What it's about

As part of the Testing Services team you will be leading the testing activity on assigned Technology Programmes and/or Projects, ensuring that the right testing is performed by the right teams with the right skills and tools. The successful candidate will be working alongside COEMAs and PMs, test teams, suppliers and stakeholders, supporting the area in the delivery of technology solutions to the required quality.

The Testing Services team is improving the way that testing is performed across the company implementing some interesting and innovative ways of working. These include setting up the test Automation Practice, providing robust assurance practices in the adoption of true agile delivery and the assurance of infrastructure upgrades and SaaS projects.

What you'll be doing
  • Collaborate across all business divisions to build up and maintain a clear understanding of the applications and systems to provide an persistent frame of reference from a test coverage perspective
  • Capture and articulate the knowledge into a repository that provides a persistent source of information that can be evolved over time; be able to clearly articulate the significance of each application and the impact of failure to the business
  • Collaborate within the business, and externally where required, to capture and represent the technology landscape that supports all testing within your remit; be able to clearly articulate the risk profile of the landscape and the likelihood of failure
  • Identify the test environment requirements to conduct end to end testing and support the Test Manager to get this requested from environment team.
  • Define test data required to support all testing within your remit. Co-ordinate with other test leads to ensure that pre-requisite data is prepared or supplied from the systems which contribute to your testing activities
  • Provide leadership to the Test Team in the delivery of testing activities and collateral for specific projects, including evaluation, estimation, test preparation, test execution and closure
  • Co-ordinate a team of business SMEs to prepare and execute the business acceptance testing of any given project to enable their acceptance of the solution (consider as UAT co-ordination)
  • Provide expert advice to Senior Management on alignment of IT products to the understood business processes, assess the feasibility of proposed project to determine appropriateness of IT solutions and advise Test Delivery Managers in budget projection
  • Align with other Test Leads to ensure consistency and cohesiveness across all applications and systems.

What we're looking for

  • Educated to a degree level or equivalent real life experience (essential) spanning more than 5 years
  • Being familiar in agile and waterfall delivery methodologies (highly desirable)

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with good stakeholder focus
  • Ability to test solutions from a strong technical as well as end user prospective
  • Ability to continuously assess and articulate the risks apparent in a IT solution
  • Analytical and logical thinking process - critical thinker
  • Financial and budget awareness
  • Leadership skills

  • Extensive experience of conducting software tests and why
  • Experience of test automation, it's appropriateness and limitations
  • Working knowledge of Test Management tools (e.g. qTest) and Application Lifecycle Management tools (e.g. JIRA)
  • Working knowledge of Collaboration tools including SharePoint, SkypeYammer
  • Good understanding of IT system processes such as workflow, database, integrations, logic, web, APIs

  • Keep abreast of new technologies, test tools and techniques and have a proactive approach to the adoption of new technologies via assigned projects
