The Solicitor to the Scottish Government is the principal non-Ministerial legal advisor to the Scottish Government and leads the Scottish Government Legal Directorate (SGLD). This is a unique opportunity to make a significant contribution to Scottish public law and life, at a time of unprecedented change and challenge.

This director post is both a head of profession and a key strategic influencing role and the Solicitor will need to demonstrate significant experience at a senior level gained in a large and complex organisation.
You must have excellent legal skills, particularly in relation to public and administrative law, with a firm understanding of devolution and the wider Government and Parliamentary context in Scotland and the ability to operate effectively within it.
