Contract: Permanent

Salary: £26,000 - £36,500

Location: The Triangle, Cambridge

What it’s about

We are looking to recruit a full-time Business Testing Co-ordinator on a permanent contract. This role would suit someone who is looking to develop their career within a very well-established company who can offer them stability and great opportunities for growth and development.

The purpose of this role is to mitigate risk to Cambridge International and enable a culture of improvement by planning, coordinating (tasks / resource) and executing high quality testing to ensure new and updated systems, as well as wider changes, meet business requirements.

What you’ll be doing

Planning and documenting test plans

  • To prepare test plans and test cases for the testing of projects / developments and review them with the appropriate stakeholders to ensure they will demonstrate the business requirement within the UAT environment and the expected testing outcomes. Ensure the scope of testing is clearly defined, and that all agreed areas of the application(s) are tested
  • Create, update and maintain a suite of test cases that can be adapted for any test purpose
  • Document test cases for new functionality with support from the relevant project / stakeholders
  • Test planning, estimation and allocation of test cases to appropriate specialist users
  • Securing team resource to deliver agreed test plans


  • Ensure system / data integrity and software quality by effectively and efficiently testing software products before their release. Design, build and execute test cases, and identify / analyse defects where there is deviation from expected results
  • Conduct all types of business testing including UAT, Regression testing, smoke testing etc.
  • Identify, report and analyse bugs and defects: using understanding of Cambridge International to help assess the impact of issues and assist with triage
  • Log and report testing outcomes

Coordinating testing

  • Coordinate and task manage secured test resource to ensure the time of individuals with specialist skills and knowledge is most effectively utilised to improve testing quality and minimise impact on BAU
  • Coach and mentor staff to help them develop their skills in testing
  • Collaborate with other Cambridge International Business Testing Coordinators to ensure deadlines are met, progress reporting is fulfilled and any risks are escalated

Project engagement

  • Actively participate in project meetings and progress reviews where required, prepare test monitors and reports on the progress of Testing
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert for technical aspects of systems where appropriate and approved by the project
  • Work alongside the UAT Manager and other Business Testing Coordinators to implement and support good test practices throughout Cambridge International
  • BTS / IT liaison for projects and systems where delegated

Support team activities and develop system/process knowledge (outside test planning / execution periods)

  • Develop a good understanding of Cambridge International processes, including required inputs / outputs and how they interact with the wider examination delivery cycle
  • Work with UAT Manager, other Business Testing Coordinators and Team Managers to ensure a broad understanding of Cambridge International processes / systems to allow for flexibility across Business testing requirements
  • Support business teams with tasks (without taking responsibility for BAU processes or direct line management)

What we’re looking for



  • Educated to at least A level standard. 5 GCSE or equivalent (including Maths and English, grade C or above)


  • First degree level or equivalent desirable.
  • Qualification in ISTQB Foundation Level or ISEB Certificate in Software Testing (Foundation or Intermediate)


  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Critical thinking; avoids making unstated assumptions
  • Comfortable reading and understanding technical documents with support
  • Systematic; able to document effective plans and report on results in a methodical, consistent and comprehensive manner
  • Ability to communicate test findings in a neutral, fact focused way using plain English to ensure mutual understanding


  • Knowledge of Cambridge International and CA processes, products and team accountabilities
  • Knowledge of SAP and/or in-house systems like EPS
  • Understanding of risk
  • Understanding of software development principles
  • Previous testing experience
  • Knowledge of structured test methods and processes and have exposure to formal methodologies like V-Model, Agile, Waterfall
  • Experience of working with test management tools HP Quality Centre, qTest, BugZilla, JIRA or similar (desirable)
