Assistant Store Manager (Charity Shop) 

Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) is a registered charity dedicated to the provision of hospice care for children with life-limiting conditions and their families in the South West. 

Position: Shop Manager’s Assistant 
Location: Covering shops in St Ives, Penzance & Helston, Cornwall 
Job type: Part Time, 6 Months Fixed Term Contract 
Hours: 16 hours per week 
Salary: £8.21 per hour (from 1st April 2019) 

Closing date: 9am Wednesday 3rd April 2019 
Anticipated Interview date: Thursday 18th April 2019 

About the role: 

This is an exciting opportunity to support the Shop Manager on a 6 month fixed term contract in running our retail shop. You will support in the day to day operation and performance of the shop through excellent customer service, effective planning, good merchandising and stock control and effective housekeeping. You will also help in creating a supportive and friendly environment to our team of dedicated volunteers. 

About you: 

You should have experience of retail, or the customer service industry, and be confident and experienced in dealing with the general public and working as part of a team. In addition, experience and knowledge of cash handling is essential as is being able to demonstrate where you have contributed to meeting improvement standards / targets and objectives. 

To be successful in this role, you should have a flexible approach to work and the confidence to undertake some lone working. This position will involve working rotational shifts during the week, weekends, bank holidays and seasonal late nights. This role will be based at either St Ives, Penzance or Helston (to suit the post holder); however you will be required to support the other shops in the local area when required. It is therefore necessary for the post holder to have a full driving licence and access to a vehicle (business mileage will be paid when covering at a different shop).
