Health & Safety Advisor 

Salary: £29,099 - £35,564 per annum 
Job Type: Full Time, Permanent 
Hours: 35 hours per week 
Location: South Manchester

About the role: 

As the Health and Safety Advisor you will support the Head of Health and Safety to ensure that Great Places Housing Group meets the necessary legislative obligations and drive the continuous improvement of Health and Safety Management System. 

This role will focus on providing health and safety management support for the Repairs Directorate and the Independence and Wellbeing (supported housing) Directorate within the Group. This will include: 

•Repairs: Lead on projects including the management of hand arm vibration and noise, working at height, roof access, job role risk assessments, ensuring the provision of appropriate training, COSHH etc. This role will provide support for the Distribution Centre, Caretakers Team and Repairs Operatives. 

•Supported Housing: This will include undertaking scheme visits and audits and providing health and safety support and guidance. 

You will be responsible for monitoring, evaluating and reviewing existing, new and upcoming health and safety legislation and ensure that the group has systems and practices in place to meet legal compliance. 

About You: 

To be successful in this role you will need to have working knowledge of health and safety management systems and the relevant requirements of continued compliance and hold a NEBOSH National General Certificate. You will be a member of IOSH (Tech / Grad) with proven experience in a similar health and safety role where you have a track record of improving health and safety within a working environment. 

You may have previous experience working within the housing sector and with the design of health and safety training, risk assessments, policies, processes and safe systems of work. You will have experience in undertaking health and safety site inspections and audits and provide a detailed and thorough service to produce reports. 

We would like to hear from people who have gained experience in the repairs/construction industry (HAVS, noise, working at height, management of sharps, PUWER, transport, waste management etc) and who may also have an appreciation of the health and safety requirements in a supported housing setting. 

You will have experience in the delivery of health and safety training accompanied with working knowledge of IT systems including Microsoft Office products. In addition to this you will hold a full driving licence and have access to a vehicle for work. You will need flexibility to work outside office hours to attend meetings and events. 

You may have experience of the following: Health and Safety Advisor, Health and Safety Officer, Health and Safety Manager, Health and Safety Consultant.
