McCrum Interior Design is looking for a part-time/freelance studio assistant to join its firm in London.

McCrum Interior Design is an award-winning London based practice in the Kings Cross area. Established in 2003, we specialise in high-end residential interior design. This includes a full spectrum of services, including interior architecture and full project coordination. Taking projects from inspiration to installation. Our team have created and delivered a wealth of successful and inspiring residential projects including a number of award winning multi-million pound regeneration schemes.

We are looking for a studio assistant to join our small but growing interior design studio on a part-time/freelance basis. The role involves providing support to the team to make sure the studio runs smoothly and efficiently so you will need to be proactive, organised, hard-working and have a keen eye for detail. You will be an effective communicator, happy to take on ad-hoc duties when required, possess a strong ‘can-do’ attitude and be the go-to-person within the studio.

Job type: Part-time/Freelance
Salary: Up to £25,000.00/year

Key responsibilities


  • issuing invoices and PO’s
  • liaising with the company accountants on payroll and tax
  • helping to create budgets (internally) and tracking expenditure

HR and legal:

  • ensuring new staff are properly inducted
  • helping with client contracts
  • making sure all insurances are kept up to date

General studio support:

  • keeping the studio in good working order
  • making sure office supplies are kept fully stocked
  • act as PA to creative director

Overseeing IT and security for company:

  • keeping all hardware and software up to date and maintained
  • liaising with the external IT support whenever necessary

Project support:

  • tracking project progress, expenditure and budgets
  • helping to assemble of project presentations
  • liaising and negotiate with suppliers and contractors to obtain quotations
  • ensuring timesheets are completed and submitted on time
  • coordinating logistics on installations

Key skills:

  • ability to work in a fast paced environment, and demonstrate an organised and proactive approach to all tasks
  • ability to multitask, working on multiple jobs simultaneously and ability to prioritise sensibly and efficiently
  • solution focused and an effective problem solver who has a positive outlook and remains calm under pressure
  • excellent attention to detail and extremely numerate
  • must be literate in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Xero accounting software
  • useful, but not essential, literacy in EstiPC or EstiMAC
