Business Continuity and Strategy Implementation Adviser

Key responsibilities

Strategic overview and implementation.

The team manage a fast paced, high volume set of demands and it will be your role to provide support to the Senior Business Continuity Adviser and Implementation Lead to make sure that we are able to turn mid-long term pieces of work distilled from the overall Corporate Plan, into a team plan. You will contribute to the strategic Corporate Centre plan and Board papers. You will be responsible for monitoring and tracking actions, horizon scanning for issues, updating on risks and anticipating/advising the BC team lead as needed. This will involve working closely with the Business Continuity Adviser and Implementation Lead, the overall Head of team, and Corporate Strategy and policy/project colleagues across the department.

Stakeholder Engagement

You will engage with teams and networks across the business and cross-government to understand stakeholder concerns, build consensus and help land messaging. You will represent the department in various forums, maintaining a positive and professional manner working with colleagues across government to drive innovation in policy and efficiencies in delivery.

Business Continuity Adviser

You will support delivery of the BC exercise programme so that the Department is ready to respond to a range of incidents. You will present and engage at departmental meetings, cross-government forums to bring learning into the department. You will be calm in crisis or serious incident and provide assistance and secretarial support and briefing to the Incident Management Group (IMG) as required.

Coordination of team activity

You will support the Business Continuity Adviser, the Implementation Lead and the Head of team to motivate the wider team and drive them to give and get the best from their time in DExEU. You will help support in the development plans of members across the team. You will be responsible for Information Management at a local level, helping to ensure that we are compliant with the relevant legal and policy frameworks but also preserving the information legacy of the department. You will also monitor budgeting and forecasting against team activity.
