About the role:

Alzheimer’s Society is committed to building a dementia-friendly generation, enabling people with dementia, their families, friends and carers to live in dementia-friendly communities where they are supported and know they’re not alone.

The Senior Youth Engagement Officer leads on the engagement and involvement of large regional and national youth organisations and also develops guidance for schools, colleges and universities, empowering both formal and non-formal educational institutions to shape the dementia landscape.

We are proud to have built mutually successful partnerships with leading youth organisations. The post holder will manage the delivery of existing partnerships with the Scouts and Girls Brigade Northern Ireland and new partners Girlguiding, whilst proactively seeking out new national partners.

We now have 300,000 young Dementia Friends and the post holder will work with new and existing partners to find creative solutions that will increase the number of young people who become Dementia Friends. This will enable a better understanding of dementia and capability to take social action in local communities.

We are educating young people through the development and promotion of resources for schools and youth groups. We currently have 24 different resources for schools and youth groups in three languages, and we are currently developing new resources. The post holder will continue to innovate creating new materials and thinking of new ways to engage our young audiences. We now have over 8000 schools engaging with The Society, numbers you will help to grow in the coming years.

This role sits within Programme Partnerships and is managed by the Programme Partnerships External Relationship Manager. You will line manage one Programme Partnerships Assistant.

This is an exciting role for someone passionate about empowering young people and ultimately supporting those affected by dementia.

About you:

You will be an enthusiastic and passionate individual excited by the opportunity to create a dementia-friendly generation.

You will have advanced knowledge of the youth sector and be able to identify current trends and opportunities to engage with youth organisations. You will have the skills to develop new resources and adapt existing ones to meet the needs of the youth sector.

This role liaises at a senior level, meeting with CEO’s and senior stakeholders. You will therefore have experience of managing partnerships with external organisations and communicating with senior external and internal stakeholders across complex organisations.

The post-holder will be organised, a self-starter with keen attention to detail, ability to manage multiple priorities at any one time. You will have developed and delivered a strategy and have experience in line management.

If you are looking to have a long-lasting impact on society, we look forward to receiving your application.
