Volunteer Coordinator

Location: Westmead, Braunton (commutable from Barnstaple, Bideford, Arlington and surrounding areas) 
Job type: Part Time, Permanent 
Salary: £11.87 per hour (£23,210 FTE)

About the role: 

It’s amazing what can be achieved when people work together! We rely on volunteers to help us support people to live, learn and work as independently as they choose, whatever their ability. We are looking for someone to bring an organised, enabling and diverse approach to volunteering in our service. 

You will be experienced in managing volunteers and will work directly with our customers and colleagues in actively recruiting volunteers specific to their needs. You will be responsible for invigorating volunteering at a local level, developing community engagement and supervising and supporting volunteers in their roles. You must be able to travel locally, have good communication and presentation skills and be computer literate. 

Flexibility including occasional weekend and evening work will be required. 

Working with local and national managers you will recruit, retain and supervise volunteers to support our customers. You will identify activities to be supported by volunteers both in the care home and community, ensuring choice, participation and requirements of person-centred plans are met. 

Other duties include community engagement to raise awareness of Leonard Cheshire with presentations to local organisations. You will also monitor overall performance against key objectives and ensure consistent supervision, coaching and mentoring of volunteers with effective induction and training. 

About you: 

- Experience of volunteer recruitment and selection procedures. 
- Demonstrable experience of researching, planning and organising volunteering activity. 
- Experience of working with customers who have disabilities. 
- Knowledge of customer self-advocacy and empowerment. 
- To work flexibly to meet the needs of the service, (including occasional weekends and evenings). 
- To demonstrate the ability to travel locally.
