This vacancy has come about as a result of an upcoming retirement within the firm, therefore you will be taking over and maintaining a varied client portfolio.
Your new role
As an Accountancy Manager, you will be responsible for a large portfolio of clients ranging from sole traders, partnerships, limited companies, pension schemes and LLPs. To service this portfolio, you will build strong client relationships and will take responsibility for the management of the team. This will include managing their workloads, time recording and reviewing their work and providing training. On a day to day basis, you will be responsible for ensuring client and HMRC/Companies House deadlines are met, organising and allocating incoming jobs, reviewing files, drafting fees for clients, corporation tax and personal tax computations, VAT work (registrations, deregistrations, option to tax, preparation of quarterly returns) as well as projections, cashflows and company secretarial work (share issue, reclassifications, dividends etc).
What you'll need to succeed
You will have a relevant qualification (CA/ACA/ACCA) and will come from a practice background, ideally having worked with a large portfolio previously. You may also be qualified by experience, as long as you have relevant practice experience. You will also be comfortable using a variety of accounting software such as Iris, Sage, Quickbooks, Xero, Excel etc.
