We are currently looking for an enthusiastic Product Manager to join our team. This role will be reporting into the Category Manager and will be responsible for assisting the Category Manager to develop product ranges which achieve company sales, margin and promotional income objectives as outlined in the category strategy.

Main Responsibilities

  • Produce weekly/monthly analysis and reviews for in-season trading performance of categories to identifyopportunities to improve commercial performance
  • Supplier liaison to progress branded and own label product requirements as discussed with the Buyer
  • Ensure that all administration and data input relating to product information, cost prices and supplier details are accurately maintained
  • Continuouslysupport the monitoring of competitoractivity and the market place.
  • Work with Product Marketing to identify potential new commercial opportunities
  • Work with the Category Marketing Manager to create promotional calendar to supportcategory strategy and objectives
  • Support the trading team analyse the success of promotionalactivity and suggest improvements to performance
  • To assist in the management of the critical path in conjunction with Category Marketing and Merchandising plans to deliver Category reviews within agreed timescales
  • Communicate any issues that will effect category, promotion or product performance in a timely and efficient manner to all key stakeholders including stores via all available methods
  • Liaise with key internal stakeholders such as Warehouse, Data, Supplier Accounts, Supply Chain, Marketing, Retail Management, Merchandising, Compliance, Regulatory Affairs as appropriate on any range, product, supplier changes
  • Deputise for the Assistant Category Manager/Category Manager in their absence by maintaining an overall knowledge of the department and any on-going issues
  • Develop an in-depth knowledge of the customer and supply base to understand which are the most appropriate

The Person

  • Strong communication and influencing skills
  • Track record of working independently
  • Strong numeracy and analyticalability to find trends and patterns from reports
  • Experience in using forecasting tools and techniques, ERP software solution and intermediate user of all Microsoft Office tools
  • PC and systems literate AS400 and Excel critical
  • Ability to build relationships with both suppliers and internal multi-discipline teams
