Job summary

We are looking for a Clinical Research Fellow to join a multidisciplinary research programme focused on (i) the investigation of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) in cancer and infection to develop breath tests for disease diagnosis/ monitoring and understanding the mechanisms for volatile production; (ii) in-vitro diagnostics with the team working in the NIHR- Medtech and In vitro diagnostic Co-operative (NIHR MIC) and (iii) surgical quality in oncological randomized trials. 

This is an excellent opportunity to build a research career and be a part of a translational research programme that includes both scientists and clinicians. The post holder will be expected to register towards PhD.

Duties and responsibilities

The research project will entail project design, experimental work in addition to data analysis and reporting the results in peer-reviewed journals.

You will be working with a dynamic group of clinicians and scientists, to undertake basic science research in one or more of the following areas: volatile organic compounds and exhaled breath analysis for cancer, innovative surgical technology and point of care diagnostics.

Essential requirements

You should have a degree in Medicine or equivalent as well as full GMC registration with license to practice, MRCS/MRCP or equivalent and advance life support training.

Proven experience in the Acute Hospital setting and knowledge and experience in the management of critically ill patients are also required.

This is a full-time post for 36 months with research and clinical commitments based at Hammersmith Hospital.

London Weighting Allowance of £2,162 per annum
