Kelly Services are proud to be working with our established client based in Northumberland to assist with recruitment of a Purchasing Manager to join their successful team.
This is a full time permanent position the ideal candidate will have previous experience as a senior buyer working in a busy manufacturing environment and will be looking to take the next step in their career. You must be able to deal with a wide range of supplier types, have experience in stock control and managing Stores.

Role

- Enhance and develop strong relationships with our supplier base so they are focused on delivering outstanding service in terms of overall costs, delivery schedules, flexibility and response times.
- Lead, guide, develop and encourage the Purchasing Team (2 Buyers, & 2 Warehousing Operators).
- Take a strategic, long-term view of global supply conditions with regards to critical components and develop appropriate sourcing strategies.
- Create an ethos of responsibility and continuous improvement through the entire supply chain with regards to quality, cost, added value, delivery and flexibility.
- Drive added value through the effective use of the company's ERP system to optimise stock levels, reduce lead times, improve costs and ensure accuracy of parts and BOM costs.
- Provide regular accurate & transparent reporting and dashboards on Supply Chain performance.
- Manage the whole product life cycle (from launch to end of life) from a supply chain perspective.
- Play an active role in the Operations Management Team.
- Ensure that all parts are delivered on-time.

Duties and responsibilities

- To ensure that materials, components and sub-assemblies are purchased and delivered to site at the right time, in the right quantities, at a cost-effective price whilst reflecting high standards of quality (QCD).
- Responsible for physical stock management and control including storage, cycle counting, stock counting and reporting.
- Manage the Purchasing Team. (2 Buyers and 2 Warehousing Operators
- Working closely with the Production, assess, plan and forecast current and future component requirements).
- Manage and negotiate contractual arrangements and relationships for the supply of goods and services to Raytec.
- Maintain the stock aspects of the SAP ERP system (item masters, re-order quantity, reorder level etc).
- Work with the Quality Manager to improve existing supplier performance and approve new suppliers (pre-production visits/audits and annual reviews).
- Source new suppliers as required for both existing and new parts.
- Work with the Technical team to ensure that;
- parts for new products are cost effectively sourced.
- the purchasing aspects of design change requests are implemented in a controlled manner.

Person Profile
Essential

- Several years of Purchasing experience gained within a small to medium sized manufacturing environment.
- Supplier relationship management experience.
- Basic Engineering knowledge and understanding with the ability to interpret drawings, BOM and understand different production options for components.
- Good working knowledge and experience of using ERP systems.
- A good at multi tasking and able to work under pressure.
- Highly computer literate - Excel, Word, PowerPoint.

Desirable

- Professional status with a recognised body or working towards (e.g. C.I.P.S).
- Line Management or Team Leader experience.
- Experience of buying PCBs, raw materials, castings and extrusions and mechanical components
- SAP Business One
