Complex Needs Worker
Do you have experience of delivering interventions for people with complex needs including homelessness, mental health difficulties, substance misuse, childhood trauma and learning differences? We have an exciting rare opportunity for an outstanding Complex Needs Worker with considerable experience of working with people with substance misuse and mental health problems, and knowledge of the problems that confront homeless people. Joining our support team based in Northfield on a 3 year fixed term contract, the post-holder will work hours per week on a rota including some evenings and weekend work . In return you will receive a competitive salary of £23,750 per year, training opportunities and support for career development, regular 1-1 meetings and support from the scheme team. The project: Funded by Big Lottery, the YMCA regional Shine project aims to ensure young people who have complex needs receive equal access and services across a number of YMCA’s within the central region. This three year project will help six YMCAs across the midlands region to better support young people with complex needs whilst also ensuring that a change of organisational culture towards these young people takes place. This is the first regional project that has been developed within the central region of YMCAs specifically to work with this client group and will enable each YMCA to fully implement our regional Health & Wellbeing Strategy More details about the Complex Needs Worker role: - Provide day to day support to a case load of 10 young adults with complex and co-existing needs - Deliver interventions and lead support for the case load in house - Develop and maintain operational links with key partners and stakeholders keeping them fully engaged of pathways and the needs of young adults - Play an active role in supporting team members and external partners in collating relevant information/data, evidencing progression and impact of project delivery and support - Support a programme of cultural change within the YMCA ensuring better access and sustainability for young people with complex needs and actively support the work of complex needs throughout the region Key skills and experience of our Complex Needs Worker: - Excellent interpersonal skills with evidence of establishing and maintaining good working relationships with young adults and multi-agency teams - Have detailed knowledge and experience of childhood trauma and its impact on mental health, and the ability to deliver appropriate information, intervention, advice, guidance and support to groups and or individuals - Excellent counselling skills with an empathetic attitude towards young adults - Actively demonstrates a commitment to promoting equality and diversity across the organisation - An in-depth understanding of and commitment to equal opportunities/valuing diversity and the ability to implement such a policy in all aspects of the work - Recognised professional qualification in Mental Health, Nursing, Drug and Alcohol, Substance Misuse or a relevant Social Science such as social work / youth and community development, to degree level or equivalent - Actively includes individuals from a diverse background and cultures in team activities Closing date for applications: 9am Friday 12th April Application notes: after clicking ‘apply’, you will be emailed an application pack.
