Joining 2 current members of my team. Working on a Rota basis Mon-Sunday variety of shifts between 9am and 9pm • Accompany me shopping, cinema, walking dogs and social events • Escort to range of medical appointments using hospital transport and Dial-a-ride • Own car with business use on License and References essential. • Pet lovers essential as I have dogs and cats around the house. • The successful applicant will be happy to fit in with friends and ; • Confidentiality and ability to work efficiently is required. Description Typical duties Domestic - Laundry, hanging out to dry, ironing, putting away Helping with laundry, washing and drying Loading and unloading the washing machine Hang washing on line or on clothes airer Changing bed linen Bed making General cleaning Taking out rubbish General housework, including cleaning, dusting and vacuuming. Minor household maintenance eg changing light bulbs, taking down curtains for washing Preparing drinks, snacks and meals. Shopping Maintenance of garden, perhaps an hour every two weeks Assist with grooming dogs – employer would help Tidying Correspondence , help writing replies, form-filling, assisting with household paperwork Making phone calls on my behalf when I am too unwell to do this Making tea for the employer's guests Personal Care : • Showering: Hoist from bed to shower chair (training offered) Assist showering in shower chair wash hair/ towelling dry/ drying hair/straighten hair. • Bed wash: full body wash, brush hair/make up • General hair/skin care: Daily moisturise/ massage feet/ legs/back and pressure areas • Toileting: Change urostomy bag (training offered) empty night bag and change -continence pads • Dressing and undressing/ helping with buttons and fastenings • Assist with bed to wheelchair transfers with transfer boards and slide sheet • Assistance with getting out of bed using a hoist • Help with dispensing tablets • Assistance with medication helping to take tablets from foil/packets • Getting in and out of the wheelchair ('transferring') • Mealtimes cutting up food • Check blood sugars (diabetic type 2) • Physiotherapy: Light arm exercises. Assist with daily lung recruitment Kit and set up cpap machine for night (simple instruction given by employer) Social : • Accompanying and assisting employer on shopping trips. • Accompany employer when accessing social and leisure activities. • Accompanying employer to doctors/hospital/podiatrist/dentist appointments when required • Accompanying when clothes-buying, including help with un/dressing and lifting clothes on/off the rails. • Occasional longer journeys • Accompanying on trips out to the park, the vet, to see family. • Driving and accompanying to social events such as: • Church (occasionally) • Accompanying on occasional trips out eg to the garden centre, beach, cinema, local village events, out shopping for christmas/birthday gifts attending social events, attending therapies and disability group • Accompanying to occasional friends and family gatherings and parties • The above duties may involve driving the employer in the PA’s car, lifting the folding wheelchair in/out of car, pushing the employer’s wheelchair when out. Awaiting a new custom made manual chair and power chair • Whilst on duty at the employer’s home watching TV and assisting with craft activities Person specification The successful applicant will be: • Female * due to personal care needs • Experience in healthcare sector • Respectful of the employer’s and family’s privacy and confidentiality at all times • Attention to detail and ensure employer’s dignity at all times • Reliable with very good time-keeping and able to remain calm in emergencies • Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative • Hygienic, tidy minded and well organised • Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties • Patient, Kind and possess excellent interpersonal skills and good sense of humour. • Honest, cheerful and completely trustworthy • Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard • Legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom • Able to work at all times to high standards of Health & Safety • Use of Personal mobile for emergency use only.
