National Account Manager (Retail / Wholesale)

Blakemore Fine Foods is a unique distribution operation set up especially to help small Great British speciality food producers get their products to market. Products are sold to independents retailers, Farm Shops, Garden Centres and selected key accounts. 

Position: National Account Manager 
Location: M40 Corridor 
Job type: Full Time, Temporary Maternity Cover 
Hours: 40 Hours per Week, Monday - Friday 
Salary: £25,000.00 to £30,000.00 per annum

About the role: 

The National Account Manager will focus on developing existing key accounts within the Wholesale Distribution division and will win new and develop existing larger, profitable customers. 


- Recruit new customers for delivered sales and develop existing delivered sales through actively selling our service to prospects that the KAM is to identify 
- Building a great network of industry contacts 
- Identifying potential customers for recruitment, in accordance with criteria, then project management of the recruitment / on boarding and development process 
- Managing a potential customer database for the territory 
- Monitoring customer performance and facilitating improvement as required, in conjunction with the team 
- Providing customers with information and support regarding the implementation of new Wholesale developments / initiatives 
- Providing customers with advice / sources of information reference general business issues and legislation (e.g. health and food safety, training, employment law, etc.) 
- Analyse spend patterns of existing customers to identify opportunities to expand trade 
- Retain and grow existing accounts for other large customers, including secondary wholesale and bulk sales 
- Achieve performance against budget for own accounts / area of responsibility – turnover, profit, bulk sales, drop shipments etc. 
- Will be required to travel to sites other than normal place of work for business purposes 
- Could be required to stay away from home overnight or attend evening events on behalf of the business 
- Will have access to company car as part of role and must ensure this is looked after in accordance with company policy 

About you: 

- Basic education (numeracy and literacy) essential 
- Working knowledge of Microsoft programs essential 
- Full Driving Licence is essential 
- Sales experience and experience of managing key accounts essential 
- Ability to use logical and creative thinking to solve problems and make decisions 
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships at all levels is essential 
- Commercially focused, capable of delivering results in a cost-effective manner 
- Strong organisational and planning skills essential 
- Experience in managing costs and resources 
- Ability to use logical and creative thinking to solve problems and make decisions 
- Customer focussed and understands the importance of this to the business.
