The ASGS is a member-led network representing and promoting the interests of the 210 state-funded single-gender girls’ schools in England.  Our Committee Members are from all over London and are Headteachers so communicate primarily by conference call and emails outside of the Committee Meetings.

A little bit more about us

Our schools are excitingly diverse and are found in all areas of the country: some are inner-city, some rural, some are selective, most comprehensive, some represent a particular faith group, and others are fiercely non-denominational.

Often our schools have a proud pioneering history in promoting gender equality and have played a key role in transforming opportunities for women over the 20th and 21st centuries. Most importantly, they all have a modern outlook and tireless commitment to supporting their students in taking up their full place in the world as leaders, movers and shakers.
