Library Supervisor (Apprenticeship Opportunity) 

Uppingham School founded in 1584 is one of Britain’s leafing co-educational independent boarding schools, It is located in the small market town of Uppingham, amid the rolling fields of Rutland. 

Uppingham's School Library is located at the heart of the School, hosting online and digital resources as well as housing 15,000 books, periodicals and magazines. The School Library is used during the day and in the evenings by pupils engaged in private study as well as others accessing information; it is also used as a place for recreational reading. The Library also encompasses a learning resource centre ~ the Cavell Centre ~ in the Western Quad, and further collections of books and other resources held by individual subject department libraries. 

Position: Library Supervisor - Apprenticeship Opportunity 
Location: Uppingham, Oakham (commutable from Corby, Leicester, Peterborough and surrounding areas) 
Job type: Full Time, Permanent 
Hours: 35 hours per week, (32 weeks per year). It is expected that the hours will be worked Monday to Friday 8.45am to 4.45pm (with an hour for lunch). 
Salary: £11,500 per annum

About the role: 

This role is available to be offered as an Apprenticeship, you will work whilst you study to gain a qualification with full support from the School. 

The Library Supervisor assists the Director of Libraries & Learning Resources in both the School Library and the Cavell Centre as required, and works closely with staff and pupils to support their use of the facilities. 

The Library Supervisor will supervise pupils working in the school library, assist pupils and teachers selecting books and online resources, issue books, undertake day to day oversight of the library ICT equipment, assist with events and promote reading, assist with library stock, order new books, check and receive deliveries and assist in the maintenance of a safe and stimulating environment. 

About you: 

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about libraries and supporting pupils, enjoys reading, excellent customer service sills, good communication and organisational skills, ICT literate and flexible in duties and hours. You will be confident, patient with a good eye for detail. It is desirable to have experience of working with young people and working in a school or library.
