Library Evening and Weekend Supervisor 

Uppingham School, founded in 1584, is a leading co-educational independent boarding school. Its 800 pupils, aged 13-18, are accommodated in 15 boarding houses, taught by over 20 academic departments, and participate in numerous extra-curricular activities such as sports, music, and drama. The academic programme is supported by business units responsible for marketing, estates, finance, human resources, IT, catering, cleaning, health and safety, and the School’s trading subsidiary. The School employs approximately 600 staff. 

Uppingham’s School Library is located at the heart of the School, housing 20,000 books, periodicals, magazines and significant online information resources. The School Library and the Cavell Centre are used during the day and in the evenings and weekends by pupils engaged in private study as well as others accessing information; the Library is also used as a place for recreational reading. 

Position: Library Evening and Weekend Supervisor 
Location: Uppingham, Oakham (commutable from Corby, Peterborough and surrounding areas) 
Job type: Part Time, Permanent 
Hours: 12 hours per week, 28 weeks per year; between 7pm to 9pm on four weekday evenings and 2pm to 6pm on Sundays. 
Salary: £3,456.84 per annum 

About the role: 

We are currently seeking a Library Evening and Weekend Supervisor to join the Library Team at Uppingham School. 

The Library Evening and Weekend Supervisor will be responsible to the Director of Libraries and Learning Resources. The Library and Weekend Supervisor will provide supervision cover in the School Library during weekday evenings and in the Cavell Centre during Sunday afternoons. You will support pupils in their use of the library, maintain a suitable environment for learning and assist in day-to-day administrative tasks. Responsibilities include to assist pupils selecting books, administration and assist in the maintenance of a safe and stimulating environment. 

The ideal candidate will be enthaustic about libraries and supporting pupils, enjoys reading, excellent customer service skills, good communication and organisational skills and ICT literate.
