Our client is a global brand who sell products globally and seek to hire a VAT Accountant who has experience of both local and global cross border VAT.

The role will be broad and implement required VAT procedures in support of the European business. To ensure that there is full compliance with European VAT legislation and Corporate SarbanesOxley requirements. Transfer VAT knowledge to other members of the finance team. The role is responsible for various legally required government compliance monthly and quarterly returns relating to indirect tax, including UK VAT returns, EC Sales List returns, and Intrastat Arrival and Dispatches returns to UK HMRC, and also VAT returns (and ECSL + Intrastat when applicable)
  • Reconcile and prepare VAT reporting for UK & International business, including UK VAT, Dutch VAT, South African VAT, and German VAT returns / registrations, on a monthly, quarterly, and / or yearly basis, with assistance from local external accountants in NL, ZA, and DE.
  • HMRC contact and compliance for VAT related issues.
  • Intrastat control, compliance and reporting, for UK, NL, and DE.
  • EC sales listings submissions for the various business lines.
  • Build up and have a good knowledge of Import/Export procedures, regulations and formalities e.g. Commercial Invoices, A.TR Certificates etc.
  • Reclaim of Import Vat for UK (C79) and Dutch authorities (UPS input VAT into NL VAT registration).
  • Continuously build up knowledge regarding Country specific Export requirement and update 'Exportreference' file.
  • Co-ordinate and deliver all ad hoc reporting required and requested.
  • Be the point of call for all Vat related queries across all business departments.
  • To identify key processes and controls, and ensure they are working effectively and being followed. Identify weaknesses in current practices and make recommendations. Liaise with financial colleagues to identify and understand any financial issues.
  • Involvement with projects and ad hoc reporting.
  • Assist with production of monthly management accounts. (Some month end work and checks e.g. journals and reconciliations).

A salary of £55,000-£60,000 is on offer plus 10% bonus
