Assistant Manager required for the successful Edinburgh Business Services team of this mid-tier firm of Chartered Accountants & Business Advisors. This role would suit a delivery-focused individual who can build and maintain strong client relationships; successfully manage a team of accountants and provide hands-on accounting support for some of the team's larger more complex clients.

The team provide compliance and advisory service to their many SME clients. This includes services such as outsourced bookkeeping, VAT return preparation, statutory accounts and bespoke management accounts to carrying out detailed systems reviews, implementation and training. The firm have and continue to invest heavily in IT and cloud solutions for SMEs, with staff fully certified and trained in all the main cloud solutions.

The key responsibilities of this role will be:
  • Managing your own portfolio of clients in Edinburgh; acting as the key point of contact, attending meetings and building strong, trusted relationships
  • Managing a small team, providing technical support and feedback as necessary;
  • Managing production workflow and operations across the team, ensuring processes and procedures are maintained
  • Championing process improvement to ensure best practice and communicating with senior management
  • Managing staff training and development
  • Highlighting potential client and department risk areas, escalating as appropriate
  • Identifying and assisting with Business Development and cross-selling opportunities
  • WIP and budget monitoring

You will be a qualified Accountant (CA, ACCA, ACA) with experience gained in the Business Services/Advisory team of a mid-tier CA practice or alternatively a small firm of Chartered Accountants. Ideally you will have demonstrable experience at review level and show willingness and ability to train and develop junior members of the team. Experience working with entrepreneurial business would be advantageous. Strong cloud accounting skills, coupled with the ability to train others on their usage and effectiveness, are essential.
