What it's about

Cambridge Assessment is looking for a person willing to champion the cause of privacy and data protection across its entire business both nationally and intentionally. With millions of students taking Cambridge qualifications around the world this will be an important, high profile role requiring interactions with senior managers, regulators and data subjects around the world. The role will allow the successful appointee to take a holistic approach to the legal, governance and operational aspects of the privacy challenge and to do so as a part, and with the support, of Cambridge Assessment's Legal team and with access to Cambridge Assessment's wide range of learning resources.

What you'll be doing
  • To play a lead role in the development of Cambridge Assessment's data protection strategy and in so doing liaise with key stakeholders within Cambridge Assessment
  • To report to key stakeholders within Cambridge Assessment on all matters relating to data protection, including the development of the data protection strategy
  • To advise on and oversee implementation of the data protection strategy
  • To conduct data protection audits and other monitoring checks
  • To oversee and/or conduct DPIAs
  • To investigate and manage complaints from data subjects and to facilitate them in the exercise of their rights
  • To manage data breaches in collaboration with relevant security staff
  • To oversee the creation and maintenance of GDPR accountability documentation (e.g., policies and records)
  • To respond to queries from the business on data protection
  • To deliver data protection training
  • To act as the Champion of Privacy by Design across Cambridge Assessment
  • To keep well informed on global data protection and privacy legislation and best practice, alerting and advising business of changes in the pipelines affecting Cambridge Assessment's activities

What we're looking for

You will either be a compliance officer or a lawyer looking to move into the specialist field of data protection compliance, with a willingness to become a data protection specialist, or you may already be a data protection specialist. Experience of giving advice on regulatory compliance matters is essential. Experience of giving advice on data protection compliance is not essential.

You will have excellent prioritisation and organisational skills, be self-driven and independent in your approach, and with a proven track record of collaboration with business stakeholders. With the ability to influence at all levels of the business, this role will also have the responsibility for training delivery.
