Communications & Stakeholders 

A small Business Support team provides administrative support and diary management to the Director of Communications and five Deputy Directors as well as ensuring the smooth running of the unit more generally. PAs are key members of the team and are responsible for managing and prioritising at least one senior team member’s calendar and inbox as well as arranging meetings, preparing briefing packs and managing their stakeholders. They are also responsible for providing support in a variety of administrative tasks around the directorate. You will work with a team of PAs and a Business Manager to support the senior leadership team and the wider directorate effectively, and manage the smooth running of the Engagement Unit on a day to day basis. 

Personal Assistant 

We are seeking high quality candidates to fill a PA role. This post is within the Engagement Unit which is responsible for the department’s communications both internal and external. 

The role offers an outstanding opportunity to work in an incredibly fast-paced and diverse working environment at the heart of government, developing your leadership, strategy and delivery skills while working with senior stakeholders across DExEU and Whitehall. There will be plenty of opportunities beyond the role to get involved in other aspects of the unit for a diligent and motivated candidate. 

The role provides daily exposure to senior civil servants and decision makers, and the successful candidate will need to possess strong interpersonal skills and an ability to manage upwards. You will need to be discreet and act with great sensitivity and integrity, and possess great attention to detail as well as an ability to spot risks and opportunities and react appropriately. There is a high degree of autonomy within this post. 

You will have excellent prioritisation skills and the ability to organise your workload effectively while managing several different tasks. You will also be confident in managing the workload and diary of a senior civil servant. You will have excellent communication skills, and be able to build and manage relationships with key stakeholders. You will be a self -starter who is able to adapt to deliver results in an ambiguous and changing environment. You will be a team player and supportive colleague who contributes to wider needs of the team.
