What it's about

As Alliance Development Manager, you'll work as part of a dynamic team to secure and grow strategic alliances which drive a commercial return and are aligned with the mission and strategic objectives of Cambridge Assessment English. You'll also take responsibility for managing existing alliances, identifying further opportunities and making relationship improvements.

What you'll be doing
  • Develop and grow commercial partnerships which support our revenue objectives
  • Create new propositions and new channels to market
  • Plan our alliance approach, negotiate partnership agreements in consultation with internal stakeholders and achieve deal closure
  • Derive more value from existing alliances and drive further revenue growth by identifying new opportunities and relationship improvements
  • Support the wider business in improving the performance of our alliance portfolio
  • Create and maintain alliance tools and resources
  • Undertake reporting to senior managers
  • Communicate our alliance successes internally and externally

What we're looking for


  • Educated to degree level

  • Sales, marketing, management or ASAP (Association of Strategic Alliance Professionals) qualification


  • Ability to negotiate and close deals
  • Proven ability to manage strategic relationships
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication, influencing and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team

  • Alliance management expertise
  • Ability to speak a second language


  • Commercial/business development/sales experience
  • Considerable experience of managing successful B2B relationships
  • Experience of securing new commercial partnerships
  • Experience of working with global, cross-cultural teams

  • Experience of working in an international education context
  • A knowledge of Cambridge English's products and markets


  • Displays an ability to get things done effectively and to deadlines
  • Takes initiative on finding innovative solutions
  • Collaborative and team player
