Contract: Full-time, 6 month fixed term contract

Salary: £19,600 - £24,500

What it's about

We are looking for a self-motivated all-rounder to assist in the smooth delivery of Cambridge Assessment's PR, media, social media, stakeholder and events programme on a temporary basis. You'll need to be comfortable dealing directly with customers, as well as internal and external stakeholders.

This varied role will give an administrative professional a valuable insight into the world of public relations and external communications. Some knowledge of the education sector would be useful but not essential.

What you'll be doing

You will be working alongside other members of the Public Affairs team to support them in the delivery of their individual disciplines, which cover external communications, social media, events and stakeholder management, and the administrative coordination of the unit itself.

Some of your job accountabilities will include:
  • Supporting the External Communications Manager by helping draft press releases, taking calls and handling routine enquiries from the media, using our content Management System Tridion and Photoshop to build and publish news stories.
  • Supporting the Social Media Manager by helping create and share content on social media, building and publishing blogs and helping monitor mentions on social media.
  • Supporting the Events and Stakeholder Manager by coordinating events logistics; ordering, collation and despatch of events equipment, literature and merchandise. Monitor stock levels, raise purchase orders and process supplier invoices. Build and publish event listings.
  • Supporting the Stakeholder function by maintaining and handling database and coordinating some stakeholder communications.
  • Providing ad hoc support to Group Unit Co-ordinator, such as taking meeting minutes and taking on other admin tasks.

What we're looking for

You will be enthusiastic, confident and a good team player. Attention to detail is also key, as you'll be maintaining our databases and helping with tasks like proofreading and website content editing.

  • GCSE Mathematics and English at Grade A* - C or equivalent.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate appropriately with internal and external contacts in order to maintain the good reputation with the Group.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to act on own initiative or part of a team.
  • Ability to develop and implement working practices to accommodate new requirements and to improve efficiency
  • Ability to learn quickly and be able to adapt to changing requirements.

  • Must have customer service experience.

Must have good working knowledge of Microsoft Office in particular:
  • Word
  • Excel
  • Outlook
  • Web browsers
  • A variety of web based applications e.g. Eventbrite

Working knowledge of the following would be an advantage:
  • Adobe Acrobat
  • Access
  • Photoshop
  • Social media eg Twitter and social media tools such as Hootsuite
  • Website content management systems

  • Has a 'can-do' flexible approach to enable effective communication with colleagues to help raise the profile of the Unit
  • Flexibility and a willingness to work overtime when required, including occasional travel to events taking place outside of Cambridge.
